Werribee Open Range Zoo

On the African Savanna, rhinos, giraffe, zebra, eland and Ostrich share the
magnificent flood plain carved out by the Werribee River over many thousands
of years. As the bus traverses the rugged escarpment overlooking the floodplain,
there are tantalising glimpses of the African wildlife awaiting below. The
stunning red cliffs and acacia trees so closely resemble the African savanna
that it is hard to believe that you are on safari in Werribee, just 30 minutes
from Melbourne. Descending down to the flood plain, visitors delight in the
close encounters with magnificent animals in natural settings. The Zoo's African
Savanna is the highlight of a visit to Victoria's Open Range Zoo.
